Our November Meeting
The History and Work of the British Red Cross
Tuesday 11th November 7.30pm Lubenham Village Hall
At times of national or international crises we hear of the work of humanitarian agencies such as the Red Cross and Red Crescent. What is the link between them and the Geneva Convention?
We welcome as our next speaker Jayne Owens, Community Legacy Manager for the Midlands, who will be giving us an illustrated insight into the long and valuable work for humanity of the British Red Cross from the time of Henry Dunant, Swiss businessman and humanitarian, co-founder of the International Red Cross, to 2025 and work in Gaza and other war-torn areas or places of natural disaster worldwide.

Members only
Sadly, we did not go to Anglesey Abbey, Cambridge last month as there were far too few booked for the visit. Hopefully, we can make this a visit for the future.

However, Esther Hancock has arranged a most interesting visit to the Taylor’s Bell Foundry and Museum in Loughborough for Tuesday 18th November.
We shall need to be there before 10.30am. Please look at the Poster on the Notice Board or on the LHG website for more information. You will find more details about Taylor’s Bell Foundry on their excellent website https://belltrust.co.uk.
Please book to join us with Esther Hancock as soon as possible. The cost of £15.00 includes our guided tour and tea/coffee and biscuits. Other attractions and cafés are nearby.

December Meeting
Tuesday 9th December @ 7.30pm, Lubenham Village Hall
We offer a warm welcome to Cynthia Brown, who is coming to share with us her thoughts on Victorian Christmases – our modern Christmas celebrations have evolved from the introduction of decorated Christmas trees into our homes and offices originally by Prince Albert and Christmas cards from around 1840. More details next month.
And Finally
