A Happy New Year to all our members and visitors!
Welcome back to our new year of interesting meetings and speakers, especially to our Speaker today, Geoffrey Harris as he enlightens us to the work and pitfalls of being a Toastmaster.
Under the Car Park
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 10th February 2026, at Lubenham Village Hall @ 7.30pm

King Richard’s Grave
Leicester University
We extend a warm welcome to Mathew Morris, leading archaeologist, writer and public speaker, who will take us on a personal illustrated journey through the discovery of the tomb of King Richard III and the final solving of a 500 years old mystery. In 2012, he directed the successful archaeological excavation searching for the lost grave of King Richard III. Currently, he is the lead archaeologist for the Leicester Cathedral Revealed and Bosworth Links projects, both supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
How many of us have actually been on that site prior to the discovery of the grave? I certainly had parked over that spot when it was a Car Park and my daughter would have been one of many who played there when it was a school playground.
Book the date and time. Members £2.00, non-members £4.00 Tea/coffee and biscuits served.
Annual General Meeting
LHG Annual General Meeting 17th February 2026 at 7.30pm Onyx Room, Lubenham Village Hall
PLEASE COME ALONG TO THE AGM when we will receive reports on the work of LHG and its Committee, the election of the new committee and officers. There will be opportunity to make suggestions for topics and speakers and also Members Only Outings.
Membership Fees 2026
Good news for members! The membership subscription rate will remain unchanged for 2026 at £15 per person. However, to try to keep up with increasing meeting costs such as speaker fees, entry charges at the door will rise from January to £2 for members and £4 for non-members.
You can renew your membership at any LHG meeting or contact our Treasurer Michael Weedon.
Please note that membership not renewed by February 28th will expire on that date.
Raffle
The Committee has discussed at some depth the amount of work involved in organising the Raffle. The last Raffle at Christmas went well but we need someone or a small group who would be willing to run the Raffle on our behalf. What do you feel? This is something to be discussed at our AGM on Tuesday 17th February, 7.30pm in the Village Hall Onyx Room.
