‘Well, I’ve got it all mapped out!’ – a familiar comment made when planning a trip or event. The history of maps and mapping is a fascinating one, especially when you are using local maps that go back centuries.
The Lubenham Heritage Group has over many years amassed in its archive a rich collection of local maps and plans. This talk will bring many of those documents back to the light of day, showing how the village has changed over time – and what has remained the same. We will see how these old maps can be combined with new digital information to illuminate them in fresh ways and how we can even use them to make novel local maps of our own.
