Lubenham Heritage Group

Introduction

Following an approach from All Saints Parochial Church Council (PCC) to members of the Lubenham Heritage Group, it was decided and agreed to substantially update the survey carried out by the Women’s Institute (WI) in 1981.

A small but dedicated group of volunteers began recording all the graves in 2015. As is often the case, things were not as straightforward as we had hoped! Grave numbers had been altered in the church records and several headstones had become worn and illegible in the intervening years.

Our grateful thanks must go to the volunteers who willingly gave up their time, the small team who organised the survey, recorded the information, updated the maps and prepared for publication, and the Lubenham Scarecrow Committee for providing funds to finally publish the material.

How to use the Graveyard Survey

• Guide to the Graveyard Survey
  The survey consists of indexes by Surname and Graveyard Section with Grave Number. Start by looking for the deceased person and then locate their grave in the appropriate section of the graveyard.

The data from the graveyard survey is provided in the following two lists:

1. People buried within the Graveyard, indexed by Surname. Use this list to discover if someone has been buried in the All Saints’ Graveyard.
2. Plans of the position of all Graves within each Graveyard Section. Use this to discover the location of a person’s grave.

Graves indexed by Surname

This section contains tables of the graves ordered by Surname. Choose the First letter of the Surname that you are searching for to find the list of all Graves in the Lubenham All Saints Churchyard of people with a surname starting with the chosen letter.
When you find a grave, for which the details on the gravestone are available, click on on the Section to see the location of the grave in the graveyard.
