SPECIAL EVENTS EXCLUSIVELY FOR MEMBERS

Why not become a member of Lubenham Heritage Group? Membership costs £10 p.a. and entitles you not only to reduced entry fees at meetings but to participate in specially organised events.

 

EVENTS 2019

Thursday 4th April – guided tour of Higham Ferrers. A walk around this small market town looking at its historic buildings including the parish church of St Mary the Virgin and 15th century Chichele College and Bede House.  For further details, contact LHG.

Wednesday 26th June – Tour of Ely.  Coach trip to the Fenland city of Ely, visiting the historic cathedral followed by a guided walk around the city and riverside.  Further details and invitation letters will be sent to Members shortly.

Saturday 3rd August – Annual Barbecue.  Further details to follow.

Wednesday 25th September – Cottage Estate, Lubenham

A guided walk looking at the many properties which formed the Cottage Estate of Jack “Cherry” Angell, including the Tower House and Gore Lodge.

Tuesday 3rd April – Guided tour of Rothwell, including a visit to the Church and Bone Crypt.  Our guides will be Ann Rowlett and Mike Coggins.

Wednesday 27th June – Tour of King’s Lynn and True’s Yard Museum.  Travel is by coach. Further details and invitation letters will be sent to Members shortly.

Saturday 4th August – Annual Barbecue.  Further details to follow.

Tuesday 25th September – Guided tour of the Curve Theatre, Leicester.   Arrangements for the visit will be circulated in July.

Wednesday 28th June – Black Country Living Museum near Dudley. Travel is by coach.  Further details and invitation letters will be circulated shortly.

 

EVENTS 2016

Wednesday 27th April – afternoon visit to Breedon Hill Church which has one of the best collections of Anglo Saxon carvings in the country.  Our guide will be Peter Liddle. (postponed from September 2015)

Wednesday 27th July – Tour of St Albans Cathedral and Verulamium Roman Remains. Travel is by coach.  Further details and invitation letters will be circulated to all Members in June.

Saturday 6th August – Annual Barbecue. Further details to follow.

Wednesday 24th August – Guided tour of Lyddington Bede House and village.

 

EVENTS 2015

Tuesday 28th April – am Guided tour of Northampton Guildhall led by Kate Wills, followed by afternoon visit to the famous Shoe Museum, Northampton. Letters of invitation will be sent out shortly.

Saturday 4th July – Annual Barbecue.

Wednesday 29th July – Tour of Lincoln Cathedral, including a Roof Tour, followed by afternoon trip around the city, led by Blue Badge Guide, Jill Collinge. Travel is by coach.  Further details will be circulated to Members in due course.

Tuesday 27th October – Leicester University Library tour of the Special Collections led by Dr Simon Dixon.

 

EVENTS 2014

Wednesday 16th April – Guided tour of Oundle Oundle is an ancient market town with many historic buildings including a 14th century coaching inn and the 13th century parish church of St. Peter.  As well as the guided tour led by local historian Robin Rowe, we shall be visiting the town’s award winning Museum.

Wednesday 23rd July – Day trip to Ellys Manor and Easton Walled     Gardens near Grantham. Further details will be circulated to Members in due course.

Saturday 16th August – Annual Barbecue.

Wednesday 1st October – Guided tour of Kirby Hall Afternoon visit with guided tour of Kirby Hall near Corby, an Elizabethan manor house with recently restored gardens. Further details to follow.
